Karaoke
I Am The Greatest Karaoke Singer. is a curated publication on my journey to ten karaoke bars across the Detroit Metro area. Singing, interviewing the performers, drinking beer, peeing in toilets and dancing on stage are all part of the transformation from a karaoke nobody to a self-diagnosed superstar. The publication documents the entire month-and-a-half-long journey through photographs, video stills, interviews and journal entries, which focus on the bars, singers, and my own experience.
The narrative is told through first-hand, qualitative journal entries, as well as quantitative data entries along the margins of the page. To gather a range of experiences, I visited at least one bar on everyday of the week. The visual direction pulls from the low-budget campiness of the karaoke scene. Hyphens will happen.
