Type Design
Wood Type

Duality is an instance of opposition between two concepts or two aspects of something. This typographic solution aims to convey that meaning in a playful interaction, which uses ping-pong as the object of duality. The contrasting materials—oak vs walnut and rubber vs wood—build off this idea and mimic the back-and-forth play between the opposing players of ping-pong. This also works with the homophone, "duel."

The rackets are regulation size, fully functional, and invite up to four players to interact with them. They took a total of six weeks to concept, sketch, prototype and produce all by hand.
